Visit to Pancheshti Temple.

Location :
The temple is around 40-45 kms. ( we started from Thiruvanmiyur and the distance is approximately from there) from Chennai on the Chennai Tada road. Before reaching Tada, the temple lies between Karanodai Bridge and Thachur Road on the Grand Trunk road to Kolkatta.
Travel time :
We started at around 6.30 am on a Sunday morning (thanks, there was less traffic being a holiday) and we reached the temple around 7.30 am.
History of the temple :
The place is said to be selected by Lord Brahma by rolling out a Dharpai (sacred grass) for doing meditation by sages. Sage Agasthiyar conducted five yagnas and hence this place is called as Pancheshti. The temple has Vilvam as Sthala Viruksham and theertham is called as Agastiya Threertham. Agasthiar is said to be returning here on every Vaikasi full moon.
Deities :
We started with Sidhi Vinayakar and then worshipped the main deities Agastheeswarar and Anandavalli Ambal. Also worshipped Lord Muruga, Dakshinamoorthy, Durgai, Mahavishnum Brahma, Ishta Lingam and Navagrahams. Lord Agastheeswarar is Swayambhu and Goddess Anandavalli canbe seen with her left leg infront with 3 eyes. Since Goddess Anandavalli helped Agasthiyar to destoy the evil forces and perform his tapas peacefully, worshipping Ambal will result in removing all obstacles & evil effects caused by enemies. Later Sage Agasthiyar installed Durga Yanthram to bring down Ambal’s anger. This is also a Navagraha Parihara Sthalam.
Our Experience :
The entire atmosphere is so serene and we had a very peaceful and fulfilling Darshan. The entire experience was so divine. The temple is maintained very neatly. The temple also has lot of scluptures which are feast to the eyes.
Have attached couple of photographs taken during our visit. People who are visiting Pancheshti should also try to visit Siruvapuri Murugan temple which is very close to Pancheshti.

Pranav Mistry: The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology

http://www.ted.com/talks/pranav_mistry_the_thrilling_potential_of_sixthsense_technology.html
Amazing guy. One more guy to reemphasise Indian supremacy on the technology space. Once this is available in the market at an affordable cost, you will not see big office spaces and people clinging on to the computers and leaving office late with backaches and other health complications. It will also save lot of marriages. Organisations can save huge on the fixed assets and administrative costs. Employees cannot escape doing office work citing out of office reason or not being provided with a blackberry. Airports will not see hunchbacked executives carrying laptops. Security counters at the airports will witness less traffic with people not having to take out their laptops and putting in the scanners.

Imagine the huge amount of E-waste which can be reduced. This invention is very much the need of the hour with the increasing global warming.

As mentioned by Pranav, there is no limit to imagination for utilising this - whether for differently abled people, elderly people, in medical science, education, communication, manufacturing, law & order maintenance and almost all fields.

Whatever our ancestors possessed in the Vedic Period is brought to us again by this amazing Indian which makes us feel doubly proud.

Jai Ho India

Brain Drain

All of us have been talking about brain drain in India  and the top performers going out of India.    With the kind of increasing educated population in India, does it not create more employment opportunities to the next best performers  coming out of college, thereby balancing the employment opportunities in India!

We should also look at the kind of foreign exchange inflows which is brought by these so called brain drainers.  With the whole world becoming a global village, this should not be a point of concern.  For the past one decade, India's economic growth has been supported by IT/ITES and this business is mainly dependent on overseas business.  The initial growth of this industry started with other countries realising our capabilities through the so called brain drainers.

The fact of matter is that India is not always having the next best.  There are so many TOP Performers who by choice don't want to move out of India.  India is having the maximum number of  TOP intellectuals is clearly evident  from the fact  that all other countries are looking at us for intellectual outsourcing and this is the industry which is growing at the fastest pace.  We are one of the few countries who survived the recent global meltdown and the entire world is looking up at us and appreciating us for our economic & financial model and knowledge.

Currently  brain drain is not a concern at all as far as India is concerned, thanks to the high quality of education, our growing young population and the only sustainable growth market in the world.
